Calling all Glider Guiders!

The next SWIFT meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1 at Chalco Hills.

SWIFT EVENTS at the COBRA field.

To Swift members and friends. I will be CD for a winter contest for TD Gliders and E-Gliders.

It will be some Sunday before the end of February at Cobra field 1:00 to 3:00. Task will be either a three flight add-em-up for 9 or 12 minutes or the best flight of the day.  We will decide then depending on conditions.  No lunch but we will have hot chocolate.  First prize will be that you can go home and warm up.

The deal is that I am going to pick the Sunday when I check the forecast on Friday.  Then I will fire off an email. If you want to be on the list answer this so I will notify you when the date is picked.  If you know someone without email give me their phone number and I will call. It will NOT be on 1/21 because Cobras are having a fun fly then. Let me know, pass the word around.

COMMENTS

SWIFT dues remain at $5.00 for 2007. The treasurer will gracefully accept 2007 dues at the February meeting or mail a check to Dan Lorimer. Please include your AMA membership information. Also include your home phone number, cell number and e-mail address for the roster update. The information will not be published on the web site.

The E-Glider KISS event proved to be a great attraction in 2006 and more events are in the works for 2007. Several members have new E-Gliders for the event and are hot to try their hand at climb and glide.  Larry P showed his new E-Glider Kit. It is amazing how nice the workmanship is on the ARF’s. It’s a 3 Meter “T” tail bird along the Elegant lines. The model is a good thermal bird and will land on a dime.

Any model in the spirit of gliders can be flown in the KISS event. Object is to climb, shut off the motor, glide for 4:59 and land in a 50 ft radius at 5:00. Piece of cake!

Items for discussion at the February meeting: (1) Silent Flight day and Longest Flight of the Year Trials at the COBRA field on Saturday 30 June 2007 sponsored by the SWIFT members of COBRA. Event would be open to any AMA member. (2) Dates for SWIFT events were discussed at the January meeting. Item remains open. (3) Dates for 07 LINOMA events sponsored by SWIFT. Item remains open. (4) Nebraska Incorporation renewal papers have been received. Open for discussion at Feb. meeting.

Bring some show and tell and see you at the meeting.

I publish Metro Area R/C Flying to make a central web site for all the area R/C clubs, not to replace individual club sites, but to tie all of them together and promote growth and interaction between clubs. The most important service of the web site is to post the Metro Area Schedule. The schedule lists all the events for all the clubs in one location so that R/C flyers can see what events are available in the area and plan ahead. I believe it will also help the area clubs to work out their schedules so that a club event, will not conflict, with another club's event. The next most important service is to provide a Page that has maps to all the events, meetings, dinners and parties. Right after that comes the Newsletter Page which lists club newsletters. Reading other club newsletters lets members see what others are offering in the area that they are interested in and promotes interaction between clubs.  This is your web site, if you would like to show-off your newest plane, or share an experience, you can E-Mail pictures and articles to me at: MetroRCFlying@Gmail.com  There’s an Email Link on every page.
