COMMENTS
2007 "THE CUP": First entry is Larry Bailey, FLING DL, wimpy up-start, time
4:31.

Repairs and modifications to the FLING DL. After a crash last year that
broke the wings at the center joint and destroyed the horizontal stab I
decided to repair and modify the DL.
The wings were rejoined with a new1/8 " Ply spar. A 1/8" slot was cut behind
the original broken spar and the new spar was epoxy in place. The ailerons
were cut off and the very stiff CA hinges removed. Hinge tape was used to
refasten the ailerons in place. Two 3/16 sq by 1/2 inch hard balsa blocks
were installed in each wing servo bay. No more gluing servos in place.
A new horizontal stab was made from two 1/16 balsa sheet cut to shape. A
section of 0.005 x 0.5 x 6 inch carbon fiber was added between the sheets at
the trailing edge when they were laminated. A new elevator was hinge taped
in place. (thanks to Bob T. for suggesting several of the repairs)
A "paper clip" tow hook was added just forwarded of the CG.
The "wimpy" up-start gets the DL to about sixty feet. I have not tried a
discus launch yet. On the day of the 4:31 flight twelve flights were flown.
Times varied from 25 seconds to the 4:31 flight.
The objective for the DL was a small field glider using a short up-start.
This has been achieved.

Dates for 2007 LINOMA remains open.

Bring some show and tell and see you at the meeting.

I publish Metro Area R/C Flying to make a central web site for all the area R/C clubs, not to replace individual club sites, but to tie all of them together and promote growth and interaction between clubs. The most important service of the web site is to post the Metro Area Schedule. The schedule lists all the events for all the clubs in one location so that R/C flyers can see what events are available in the area and plan ahead. I believe it will also help the area clubs to work out their schedules so that a club event, will not conflict, with another club's event. The next most important service is to provide a Page that has maps to all the events, meetings, dinners and parties. Right after that comes the Newsletter Page which lists club newsletters. Reading other club newsletters lets members see what others are offering in the area that they are interested in and promotes interaction between clubs.  This is your web site, if you would like to show-off your newest plane, or share an experience, you can E-Mail pictures and articles to me at: MetroRCFlying@Gmail.com  There’s an Email Link on every page.
