Omahawk's Field Closed!

Hello Omahawks,

We just received word from the Parks Department that they will be doing some construction work to the entrance of the Standing Bear Lake Park area which will prevent any flying activities to happen at Hawk Field. This construction project is scheduled to start on Monday, September 15, and will continue through the next three weeks, ending around October 6th date. This construction project will prevent any access to the Standing Bear Lake area, which includes Hawk Field.

It is unfortunate that we didn't get any further advanced notice other than the one sent Friday as listed below:

Here is what was sent  by the Parks Department:

"The parks department is preparing to begin a road improvement project at the entrance to Standing Bear Lake off of Fort Street. This is the entrance across from 138th Street and the one providing access to Hawks Field.  The work will begin on Monday, September 15th, and last for approximately three weeks.  In order for this work to be completed in a timely manner the entrance will be completely closed with no access. "

Any scheduled flying events will need to be cancelled or rescheduled as the Hawk field flying area will be unavailable during this time.We are asking our members to please be patient during this time so that the Parks Department can complete their project in a timely manner to prevent any further delays or access to Hawk Field.

Thank you for your patience and understanding despite the very short notice received about this project.

I publish Metro Area R/C Flying to make a central web site for all the area R/C clubs, not to replace individual club sites, but to tie all of them together and promote growth and interaction between clubs. The most important service of the web site is to post the Metro Area Schedule. The schedule lists all the events for all the clubs in one location so that R/C flyers can see what events are available in the area and plan ahead. I believe it will also help the area clubs to work out their schedules so that a club event, will not conflict, with another club's event. The next most important service is to provide a Page that has maps to all the events, meetings, dinners and parties. Right after that comes the Newsletter Page which lists club newsletters. Reading other club newsletters lets members see what others are offering in the area that they are interested in and promotes interaction between clubs.  This is your web site, if you would like to show-off your newest plane, or share an experience, you can E-Mail pictures and articles to me at: MetroRCFlying@Gmail.com  There’s an Email Link on every page.
