The Blue Max 1903-1919 Scale RC  Challenge

2010 Blue Max RC scale meet

Blue Max is a first of it’s kind radio control model airplane event that combines a traditional, informal “Dawn Patrol” style fun -fly for scale models of flying machines from the earliest years of aviation (1903-1919), with a competitive scale model aircraft contest for models representing aircraft from the same time frame. Model enthusiasts may participate in either or both phases of this event and no invitation or qualifying is necessary, so that anyone who wishes may join their like-minded compatriots.

Modelers at every level of experience will be able to match their skills with others of similar capability due to the unique organization of the four classes in the Blue Max format. Both building as well as flying skill will be rewarded simultaneously, so that a well flown enhanced ARF can have a chance to compete against a superbly crafted scratch built machine.

Lodging accommodations are close at hand and a group rate for Blue Max participants will be available on a first come, first serve basis. There is a full service Grille/restaurant in the museum and other food vendors will be on site. An awards banquet in the convention center will be held at the conclusion of the event complete with a cash bar. “Dry” RV campsites are available on site for a nominal fee.

Blue Max is scheduled for the 12th and 13th of March 2010 at the home of the world’s finest collection of restored and replica aircraft at the Fantasy of Flight Museum in Central Florida ( www.fantasyofflight.com , click on "activities" and select Blue Max from the sub-menu ). This remarkable venue is not only an aviation enthusiast’s dream destination, but is within easy driving distance of many of Florida’s other great attractions, which include world renowned Disney World and MGM Studios in Orlando, Cape Canaveral Space Center and museum, the Daytona 500 Speedway, and numerous MLB spring training camps which are in session this time of year. There are any number of very active RC clubs in the area and Lakeland Lindner Airport, a few miles away, is the home for Top Gun and Sun-n-Fun (also known as Oshkosh south)..Mike Celeskey, Ron Prestin, John Olson

I publish Metro Area R/C Flying to make a central web site for all the area R/C clubs, not to replace individual club sites, but to tie all of them together and promote growth and interaction between clubs. The most important service of the web site is to post the Metro Area Schedule. The schedule lists all the events for all the clubs in one location so that R/C flyers can see what events are available in the area and plan ahead. I believe it will also help the area clubs to work out their schedules so that a club event, will not conflict, with another club's event. The next most important service is to provide a Page that has maps to all the events, meetings, dinners and parties. Right after that comes the Newsletter Page which lists club newsletters. Reading other club newsletters lets members see what others are offering in the area that they are interested in and promotes interaction between clubs.  This is your web site, if you would like to show-off your newest plane, or share an experience, you can E-Mail pictures and articles to me at: MetroRCFlying@Gmail.com  There’s an Email Link on every page.
